Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber is beatiful. A medieval Altstadt with Fachwerkhäuser, cobbled streets and impressive (restored) town walls draws millions of visitors from Germany and abroad. Despite the throngs, the town still manages to convey a sense of medieval magic, especially around Christmas.
And they have Schneeballen. Traditionally a speciality of Rothenburg, these crunchy balls are now appearing all along the tourist trail in Franconia. Strips of short pastry is pressed into a ball and deep-fried in fat, then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
