My Australian/Turkish hosts made this on my first night in the UK.

Cut dried figs into little pieces (not pulp, just fairly chunky). Simmer the figs with some muscovado sugar and a splash of rum in milk. The figs should soften and absorb the milk without going completely mushy.

Serve a spoon or two of the warm fig mixture on a generous dollop of mascarpone as a wickedly indulgent desert.
