Wullox

I first saw it in Brussels, but only bought some 3 weeks later on a freezing day in Bruges. Whelks.

They gently simmer in white wine with celery, paprika and pepper. When they detach from their shells, the obscene little creatures are shifted to one side of the pot for scooping out.

They smell of sea and snails. And are absolutely delicious.
